Torah Class: Day 78 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #7: Wilderness of Sin

Basis for our Studies:

The Bible tells us that the “End (of the world) is declared from the “beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that. The original Hebrew word translated as “beginning” in Isaiah 46:10 is תישאר (rê’shı̂yth). This is the root of Bereshith, which is the Hebrew name of the first Book of the Bible, “Genesis”. In other words, prophecies of the End of the World are found in the Book of Genesis.

The Torah is one of the five keys for unlocking End-time Prophecy… Prophecy is unlocked through the Statutes!

The Lessons and Tests of Israel in the Wilderness are Prophetic - for the Last Days

1 Corinthians 10:1-6 – The experiences, lessons and tests of Israel in the Wilderness are “examples” for us.

1 Corinthians 10:11 - “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”

What is being worked on in each Test/Lesson is ONE THING: Shema – Love Yahweh with all your heart, soul and might

·       Deuteronomy 6:4-9  “Hear (shema: to hear intelligently, to pay attention, obey, be a witness and proclaim / live it for others to see), O Israel (those that bear the 42 letter Name): Yahweh our God is one (primary, solely God, supreme, first) Yahweh: And thou shalt love Yahweh thy God with all thine heart (emotions, innermost being), and with all thy soul (breath, will – choices), and with all thy might (strength). And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house (that’s our down-time of resting, at the end of day), and when thou walkest by the way (in the commute, travel time), and when thou liest down (when you first lay down and before you fall asleep at night), and when thou risest up (when you first wake up in the morning). And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #7: Wilderness of Sin (means "thorns, thistles, weeds, briars"... it is the name of the moon god which was worshipped in this region) - Numbers 33:11

Seven in Hebrew is the Zayin, and it signifies the completion and perfection of Yahweh. Creation was seven days…

Seven appears in human conception:

·       From conception to birth is 40 weeks, or 280 days

·       Eggs often hatch in multiples of 7 (potato bug – 7 days; canary – 14 days, chicken – 21 days… etc.)

Exodus 16:1-3 – Israel complained about the lack of food – to such a degree that they actually said they’d rather die by Yahweh’s Hand (Judgment Hand against sin) in Egypt – in order to keep its flesh pots… Than to be delivered from Darkness and taken Home.

Sin is the name of the moon-god worshipped by the Edomites and Midianites and pagan nations in this region…

The Midianites descend from Midian, who was the son of Abraham, through Keturah (his wife after Sarah died)…  (Genesis 25 mentions them)…  The Midianites were the merchants who bought Joseph (Genesis 37 & 39)… These people worshipped Yahweh amongst their many gods – highest of which (in their thinking) is the moon god (Sin)…  They are polytheistic…  The sacred is blended with the profane.

In the story of Moses, he marries a woman (Zipporah) who is the daughter of Jethro, a priest (Yahweh-priest) of Midian…  So, in this people we have Yahweh-fearing believers! They are not of Israel (literally), yet some among them faithfully serve Yahweh…  And Moses marries her, showing that he understands she is of spiritual Israel. Moses in this marriage demonstrates that Israel is bigger than DNA.

As Lew White, in Fossilized Customs, states plainly, “Allah was a pagan deity. In fact, he was the Moon-god…  and the stars were his daughters.”

In Old Testament times, Nabonidus (555-539 B.C.E.), the last king of Babylon, built Tayma, Arabia as a center of Moon-god worship. (Nabonidus is pictured on the Babylonian carving on the following page. Notice the crescent moon shape on his staff and in front of him) …South Arabia's stellar religion has always been dominated by the Moon-god in various variations.
Many scholars have also noticed that the Moon-god's name "Sin" is a part of such Arabic words as "Sinai," the "wilderness of Sin." When the popularity of the Moon-god waned elsewhere, the Arabs remained true to their conviction that the Moon-god was the greatest of all gods. While they worshipped 360 gods at the Kabah in Mecca, the Moon-god was the chief deity. Mecca was in fact built as a shrine for “Allah - the Moon-god.”

·       Deuteronomy 4:19 – We are not to worship the heavenly bodies

·       Deuteronomy 17:2-5 – Worship of heavenly bodies is an
abomination that is punishable by death.

Sin was worshipped – its sabbaths (holy days) were by the moon phases:

·       New Moon – 1st day

·       8th day – 1st quarter

·       15th day – full moon

·       22nd day – last quarter

·       29th day – conjunction?

Moon Phases do not determine the Seventh – Day Sabbath. Consider the following Biblical Evidence:

·       The Creation Week - The moon was created on the 4th day, so you cannot get a Seventh-day Sabbath, counting from the moon…  Since Sabbath memorializes Creation, the Creation week dictates when the Sabbath is.

·       It’s Called the 7th Day Sabbath - There is not consistently 7 days in the moon cycle…  The Sabbath is one name for the Day…  It’s also called The Seventh-day…  The time gap between the new moon and the 8th day phase can be 9 days, not seven…

·       The Pentecost Count – Pentecost is 7 complete Sabbaths (from First Fruits) and 50 Days…  This only works with a consistent seventh-day Sabbath - Leviticus 23:15-16

The Lust of the Flesh Test was at the Wilderness of Sin… Exodus 16:1-36

·       Apostasy starts with complaining.

·       Yahweh uses testing to reveal what’s really in our hearts

The Pattern of Apostasy

1.      Peace and prosperity – Yahweh’s Gifts to His people

2.      Apathy and compromise – The people Gifts for granted and forget to thank Him.

3.      Rebellion (humanism) and paganism – People trade God for other sources of “strength”

4.      Famine, war, plagues, and slavery – People are shown in these signs the inadequacy of their own arm of flesh…  Yahweh is disciplining them to bring them to repent and worship Him.

5.      Confess and repent – the people recognize their need for Yahweh

6.      Yahweh hears, saves and restores – He blesses His people with peace as long as they follow Him and don’t turn to other gods…

James 1:2-4 – we are to take a testing period with patience and cheerfulness…  For Yahweh brings good out of all things…

Hebrews 13:5 – “I will never leave you nor forsake you…”

Psalm 37:25 – “I have been young and am now old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread…”

Psalm 34:8 – Taste and see – what? That Yahweh is Good! Once you know His Goodness, don’t forget it.

Torah Class: Day 77 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #6: Yam Suph

Basis for our Studies:

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #6: Yam Suph (means "reeds, despair, discouragement") - Numbers 33:10

Numbers 21:4 – the way in Yam Suph is difficult (reeds indicate marsh…) (Jeremiah 49:21)

Jonah 2:5 – “weeds” are wrapped around Jonah’s head in his belly of the whale, Sheol (hell) experience… so weeds (suph) are a Biblical symbol for despondency.

Yam Suph was Israel’s 6th Campsite…  Six is the Vav in Hebrew W.

Vav is the number associated with man…  Man was created on the 6th day, man works for 6 days…  there are 6-1000 year periods before the final coming of Messiah…  The Beast is identified as the ultimate number of man 666.

The Vav is the asterism of the constellation Taleh, portraying the Worthy Lamb (Passover Lamb) that was slain – Yahshua – through Whom we may be saved (He’s the Bridge to Life)…  And the connection of Heaven with Earth through the Lamb is shown in the Vav.

The circumstances in Yam Suph are discouraging…  But we are not to be discouraged. We are to be connected with Heaven…  In that connection is a higher reality: Yahweh is our Reality, not our circumstances.

Faith comes by hearing – and hearing by the Word of Yahweh…  So, the Elim eyes of faith are necessary for victory over the “bog” of Yam Suph…

Campsite #7: Wilderness of Sin (means “thorn… it is the name of the moon god which was worshipped in this region”) – Numbers 33:11

Torah Class: Day 75 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #4: Marah

Basis for our Studies:

Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #4: Marah ("bitterness", "t0 be rebellious", "to quarrel, "to be in defiance") - Numbers 33:8

At Marah, Israel had been three days without a water source…  Now they were thirsty and the water at Marah turns out to be big disappointment. The water is “bitter”. Israel responds to the bitter water with bitterness against “Moses”, but that’s really against Yahweh. They are suffering and uncomfortable…  But they aren’t handling it with Grace.

Instead of getting upset, complaining and becoming bitter against Yahweh when suffering comes upon us, we need to understand that suffering is part of the Journey! Suffering is something that Yahweh uses to get Egypt out of us.

·   2 Corinthians 1:5-7 – “For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our Consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your Consolation and Salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your Consolation and Salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the Consolation.”

·   1 Peter 4:12-16 – “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings: that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy...But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

·       Hebrews 12:1-5 – chastening is part of sonship in Yahweh

·       Malachi 3:2-3 –

·   Deuteronomy 8:2 – “And thou shalt remember all the way which Yahweh thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep His Commandments, or no.”

Moses is shown a tree branch to put in the water at Marah that turns the bitter water to sweet and potable…

In the context of this story, Yahweh chooses to reveal Himself to Israel as the Healer: Exodus 15:25-26

The BRANCH is Messiah (there are five BRANCH prophecies)…  These prophesies define Messiah. Israel can only be healed of their bitter rebellion through the BRANCH.

Water represents spirit…  So, Living Water represents the Holy Spirit…  but poisonous water or noxious water is of the enemy. Spirits of darkness produce the fruit of rebellion and complaint…

Ephesians 4:31 – “Let all bitterness, and wrath… be put away from you…”

Hebrews 12:15 – “Looking diligently lest… any root of bitterness spring up.”

Torah Class: Day 74 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #3: Pi Hahiroth

Basis for our Studies:

The Bible tells us that the “End (of the world) is declared from the “beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #3: Pi Hahiroth ("mouth", "kindled wrath", "to subside, to be calm, to be quiet in the face of wrath")

·      ·      Pi Hahiroth is about that moment when you really are between a rock and a hard place… But the Truth is that GOD is your REALITY, NOT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES!

·   Exodus 14:2-3 “Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.”

Migdol is “tower”, which is what Scripture tells us that Yahweh is to His people

·   Proverbs 18:10 “The Name of Yahweh is a strong tower. The righteous runneth into it and is safe.”

·   1 Corinthians 10:13 – “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

·   Psalm 61:1-3 – “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.”

At Pi Hahiroth, they are also in the shadow of Baalzephon (Numbers 33:7), meaning “lord of the north”, which is a suggestion of the title for the Beast (King of the North)… And Israel comes unto Migdol, through the baptism of the Sea (1Co_10:2  And (they) were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.”), thereby claiming the Strong Tower of Yahweh’s Deliverance from Baalzephon. Baptism is the beginning of the way Yahweh has provided for us to be delivered from the Beast…

On the other shore, having passed through the baptism of the Red Sea (900 foot tall water… 10 mile stretch… the Egyptians tried to follow them and were drowned)

Miriam led Israel in singing the Song of Moses (the Song of the Moses and the Lamb is sung by the 144,000 at the End, which clearly means we all experience this Sea) – Exodus 15:20-21

Exodus 15:2 - "Yahweh is my strength and song, and He has become my Salvation (H3444 Yahshua)."

Exodus 15:11 - "Who is like unto thee, O Yahweh, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?"

Exodus 15:18 - "Yahweh shall reign for ever and ever."
