Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We completed our study of Statutes 456-468. Today we studied Torah principles on intoxication. We then started our last set of Statutes under the 6th Commandment, and were looking at godly love for self, as a basis for loving one's neighbor.

Torah Class - Day 22: Studies of Statutes 456-468 (continued)

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We continued our study of Statutes 456-468. Today we looked at Statutes relating to shedding innocent blood. We saw that this sin causes the ground - the land - in which it is done, to be cursed.

We also saw that God's people are to take an active part in preventing (in so much as is possible) the shedding of innocent blood.

Torah Class - Day 21: Studies of Statutes 456-468 (continued)

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We continued our study of Statutes 456-468. Today we looked at Statutes relating to shedding innocent blood and breaking generational curses. We also examined the concept of Gossip, what it is and what it isn't, Scripturally.

A “talebearer” is a gossiper—one who bears (carries, as in a courier) tales or stories meant to harm someone’s reputation. Personal information, secrets, and even outright fabrications (lies) may be involved. Throughout the Book of Proverbs, Yahweh repeatedly spoke of talebearing or gossiping in a negative light:

·         Proverbs 11:13 - “A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.”

·         Proverbs 18:8 - “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.”

·         Proverbs 20:19 - “He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.”

·         Proverbs 26:20 - “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”

·         Proverbs 26:22 - “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.”

A cross-reference to Leviticus 19:16 is Exodus 20:16, the Ninth Commandment: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour” (see also Deuteronomy 5:20).

While this can be broadly interpreted as “do not lie,” a more specific application is “do not lie during court proceedings.” One example of this sin is how two false witnesses—whom idolatrous Queen Jezebel conscripted—lied about Naboth for the express purpose of condemning him to death so King Ahab could take possession of Naboth’s coveted vineyard (1 Kings 21:1-29).

The worst case, however, involved two false witnesses fabricating testimony during Yahshua’s trial to justify putting Him to death (Matthew 26:57-68; Mark 14:53-65; cf. Luke 23:1-5; John 18:28-32).

Let us go back to Leviticus 19:16: “Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I Am Yahweh.”

The “blood” of the neighbor being shed is certainly literal, but we can also see a figurative aspect too. “Character assassination” is not the actual taking of a physical life, but rather the destruction of one’s reputation. Likewise, false testimony in court may not lead to the death of the defendant, but he or she may lose his societal status because of slander. If someone was guilty, any witnesses to the crime were to come into the courtroom to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Speaking the truth, for the purpose of correction and/or righteous Judgment is godly.

However, if all the witnesses had to contribute to the case was hearsay, gossip, rumors; they were to keep their mouths shut and their bodies out of the court proceedings! Otherwise, the Law of Moses would be broken—and, in the case of capital punishment, an innocent life lost. Here, guiltless blood would literally be shed. At the very least, someone’s good name would be tarnished.

According to Scripture, gossip is the sin of speaking lies and evil of God’s people, when they are innocent. It is also evil - and a form of gossip – to broadcast a fellow believer’s failings, for which they have repented! When a sin has been repented of, in the Eyes of Yahweh, it is over.

As Heaven amply demonstrated in the case of David (after Bathsheba), God’s anointed people may continue in their Heaven-appointed positions, even after a terrible fall into sin, so long as they truly repent. Yahweh punishes, appropriately. But the gossip and judgmental rebellion of Absalom and Ahithophel (Bathsheba’s grandfather), were not righteous, nor sanctioned of Heaven.

When a matter is confessed and repented of, it is to be cast away and never thrown up in the believer’s face again. Only Satan, the accuser of the brethren, continues to dredge up past failings that are covered under Messiah’s Blood. Dredging up someone’s repentance-covered past is as much a form of gossip as is an outright slanderous lie.

But, speaking the sins of the unrepentant wicked is not gossip. This is something which is repeatedly done in Scripture…  consider the following short video synopsis of some of what the Bible says of the most wicked people in the Bible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooewnwyplXo

Telling the Truth for the purpose of warning the Body of Christ, and/or calling the wicked to repentance is not gossip, and is not Torah-breaking. In fact, it is a vital part of resisting evil. For evil prospers when good men are silent, just as this Statute also teaches.

Romans 12:21 tells us clearly: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” We must speak about evil in order to act against it – and also, to protect others in the Body of Messiah against it.

Ephesians 5:11 “Take no part in the worthless pleasures of evil and darkness, but instead, rebuke and expose them.”

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We began our study of Statutes 439-455. Today we looked at Statutes relating to eating the fat, and why the visceral fat (fat around the organs) belongs to Yahweh - it is His food tithe! We also looked at the Statutes of what to do with a dangerous ox (bull), which apply to any animal we own that is a threat to the safety of humans or other animals. Human life is to be valued higher than animal life.

Torah Class - Day 16: Studies of Statutes 428-438

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We studied Statutes 428 - 438 which talk about love for our enemies...

Here are a few highlights from class today:

The key to preventing Bitterness and Loving our Enemies is Love - which is demonstrated in Going the Second Mile...

·   Matthew 5:38-48 "…Do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow. “You have heard the law (Talmudic law, not Torah) that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.  If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect."

How do we go the Second Mile?  This means that we are to voluntarily invest something of our time, talents, or resources into the life of our offender, for where our treasure is, there will our hearts be also (Matthew 6:21).

In Christ’s day, the Roman soldiers (whom the Jews considered to be their enemies, since they were an occupying power) could command a male twelve years old or older to carry his military pack for one mile in any direction. Many Jews resented this. To them, it was just one more way the dictatorial Roman empire dominated them. But Christ taught that rather than just going the required one mile, His followers were to go two (Matthew 5:38-40). This command goes dipolar opposite to our natural response to injustice! But the Bible warns that our natural responses are usually wrong (Proverbs 14:12).

In going the extra mile, we reclaim our joy in Yahweh, and truly overcome the last vestiges of bitterness! It is also not until we go the “second mile” so-to-speak, that we have opportunities to witness to our offenders. Thus, we should pray and seek the Father’s insights as to how we can invest some voluntary “treasure” in the lives of our offenders.  And as we do so, we find a window of Heaven opens flooding us with divine grace to triumph amid the suffering.

Torah Class - Day 15: Studies of Statutes 428-438

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We studied Statutes 428 - 438 which talk about the kinsman redeemer, brotherhood, and dealing with our enemies...

Here are a few highlights from class today:

The Torah-Principle of Being our Brother’s Keeper:

Cruelty and violence by a brother against a brother was first introduced into the human story by Cain, who murdered his brother Abel. Cain’s sin against his brother is not limited to violent rage. He is also completely careless of what brotherhood means.

In response to God’s haunting question, “Where is Abel, your brother?” Cain spits back with his perverse question, “Am I my brother’s keeper? (Genesis 4:9).”

The Torah has set up its audience ingeniously here. It baits us to answer Cain. It begs us to respond, bringing us to wish we could shout back through the eons: “Of course you are your brother’s keeper! That hateful rejection of your familial responsibility is the very thing that bore the horrendous fruit of murder, allowing you to spill Abel’s innocent blood!”

While the Torah at first appears to leave Cain’s question unanswered, it actually reveals the answer both directly and indirectly. This set of Statutes gives a direct response to Cain’s question regarding one’s responsibility for the well-being of one’s brother. We are our brother’s keeper, before Yahweh!

But let us also notice the subtler response to Cain’s question, as the story unfolds further. At the close of Cain’s story, the Torah recounts the generations between Adam and Noah, from which Cain is conspicuously absent. After Abel’s murder, Adam and Eve beget another son, Seth. Seth, in turn begets Enosh, who begets Kenan, who begets Mahalalel, who begets Jared, who begets Hanokh, who begets Methuselah, who begets Noah, from whom, as survivors of the flood, we are all descended.

In the Torah record of human history, we find a recitation of our common ancestry, which underscores the depth and breadth of our responsibilities to one another as powerfully as the Golden Rule. After Cain, the Torah starts human history over again. It leads us through the generations of begetting, impressing upon us that our history is fundamentally a relational one that is rooted in a common ancestry, a single family of humanity.

And in this original familial relationship resides our profound responsibility to one another. “Let there be no mistake,” the begettings seem to say. “The ‘neighbors’ for whom you must care are not only the people around you, but the entirety of this human family from which you are also a descendent. Each member of this family is your ‘brother.’ And there is no one, therefore, that we are free to abandon, in distress, nor ignore in an hour of need.

As Yahshua demonstrated in His parable of the Good Samaritan, godly brotherhood is a responsibility that transcends citizenships, racial boundaries, or close family ties. When someone is abused “on our watch” (we know and can do something about it), Yahweh’s question to Cain echoes to us down through time: “Where is your brother?” And whether we directly (we were the abuser) or indirectly (we stood by without intervening) participated in a crime against a brother, before Yahweh, we are our brother’s keeper.

The consequences for shirking this godly brotherhood are the same for anyone, as it was for Cain. But true brotherhood and the fulfillment of this set of Statutes is demonstrated most profoundly, by God Himself:

·         Hebrews 2:11 - “For He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why He is not ashamed to call them brothers.(ESV)

·         Romans 8:29 – “For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the Image of His Son, in order that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers.” (ESV)

The Kinsman-Redeemer:

The term kinsman-redeemer is a combination of two words.

  1. The word kinsman has the same root as what we call next of kin today. It’s seen especially in documents involving inheritance, like in bank details. It requires information about your closest living blood relative or beneficiary of an investment. In Biblical terms, “kinsman” is a term which not only involves people who are literally in the same family or clan, but also it is one’s “neighbour”, as Messiah revealed in His story of the Good Samaritan. So one’s “neighbour” is also one’s “brother”.
  2. redeemer is someone who buys back and legally regains the possession of a property or even a person that was sold to another to repay debts. The redeemer pays the price for what is being recovered, which the indebted one could not pay for himself.

·         The Parable of the Good Samaritan demonstrates brotherhood, which connects with the meaning of “kinsman”:

o   Luke 10:36  Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

o   Luke 10:37  And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Yahshua unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

The Biblical term “kinsman-redeemer” is the result of putting those two words together and means the closest blood relative or neighbour who willingly pays the debtor’s redemption price.

The Bible does not sanction slavery or even the acquisition of someone’s land forever – even when the person lost their inheritance, land and possessions due to their own foolishness or mismanagement of their assets. But when someone had debts too great to repay, provision was made for them and for their lost property to be redeemed.

Yahweh has demonstrated how this set of Statutes are to be lived out, on an epic scale. As the human race, the Bible refers to us as carnal and “sold under sin” (Romans 7:14, NKJV). We are personally sold in servitude to hell, in a debt so great that we cannot legally get ourselves out of it. We lost our planet in this debt and all that is under our possession.

Yahshua is our Kinsman-Redeemer. The Name Yahshua itself means “the Salvation of Yah”. He came to save us from the slavery of Satan and sin. He Redeems us, individually. And He has legally gained the right to reclaim our planet, and restore saved mankind to his original possession, in the New Earth (Matthew 1:21, Isaiah 41:14).

Christ paid our redemption price. Peter says, “you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold… but with the precious Blood of Yahshua Christ.” What a staggering Price for our redemption! (1 Peter 1:17,18 NKJV). And how great is the brotherly Love of Yahweh to have paid such a Price to deliver us from our sin-debt!

Torah Class - Day 14: Studies of Statutes 412-427

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We studied Statutes 412 - 427 which talk about kindness to our fellowman, and principles pertaining to not mingling seeds...

Here are a few highlights from class today:

Yahweh is the supreme Ruler of all. Thus, it makes perfect sense that if I am an employer, my employees are really predominantly HIS people. I am only to be a gentle leader, remembering that YHWH is the true Leader of all under my authority. Also, if I am a servant, I am to remember that I am primarily rendering service unto Yahweh, not my earthly employer.

Joseph worked like this, in Potiphar's house. And it is the calling to each believer who is under an authority, even when the authority figure behaves in an ungodly manner. See 1 Corinthians 7:21:23 and 1 Peter 2:18-24.

Torah Class - Day 13: Studies of Chakras-Chi and Energies concluded - & mingled seed

Today we continued study of the Statutes relating to the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill"

We are focusing on shocking and little-known ways to "kill" ourselves, through natural remedies. Specifically, we are focusing on exposing the New Age - Occult reality of Chakras and Chi (aka energy)

Here are a few highlights from class today:

Torah teaches that we are not to “kill ourselves, one bite at a time”…  We see this in the clean-unclean food Laws…  It is also a factor regarding witchcraft… Witchcraft manifests all over the place in the category of natural healing.

The identity of the demons with each chakra point is from Raven Synthx, in Natural Satanic Witchcraft

The deceptive message/packaging: Chakras are “energy centers” in the body, and chi is the “life force” that flows through the body. This is a lie!

Chakras – In many Eastern and spiritual belief systems, chakras are energy centers that are thought to spin and allow life energy to flow through the body. The word “chakra” comes from Sanskrit and means “wheel” or “cycle”. There are 7 main chakras that run from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is associated with a different demonic entity.

Ahaziah King of Israel (capital was Samaria) was sick and turned to hell for healing.

·   2 Kings 1:3  “But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?”

·  2 Kings 1:16  “And he said unto him, Thus saith YahwehForasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? Therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.”

Principle: If we seek healing from demons, we are cursed with death by Yahweh. This is why this concept is found under “Thou shalt not kill”.

The identity of the demons with each chakra point is from Raven Synthx, in Natural Satanic Witchcraft:

Chakra 1: Root – demon: Belial

·  (this demon is unleashed in the person by “unblocking” or “opening” or “accessing” this root chakra).

“Located at the base of the spine, this chakra forms our foundation, representing the earth element it is related to our survival instincts, our sense of grounding and the connection of our bodies and the physical plane. This chakra is responsible for health, prosperity and security.”

·  Belial is named in 16 Bible verses. People who are under this spirit are called “children of Belial”.

·   2 Corinthians 6:14-18  “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith Yahweh, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith Yahweh Almighty.”

Chakra 2: Sacral – demon: Lilith (Liyliyth, H3917, from root “H3915)

·  (this demon is unleashed in the person by “unblocking” or “opening” or “accessing” this sexual and abdominal chakra).

“Located in the lower abdomen and sexual organs. Related to the element of water, the emotions and sexuality. It connects through feelings, desire, sensation and movement. This chakra brings fluidity and grace, sexual fulfillment, and the ability to accept change.”

·  Lilith is the name of a demonic entity, found in Isaiah 34. Its root is connected with the night.

·  Isaiah 34:13-14  “ And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls. The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr (he goat, faun, devil) shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl (Lilith) also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.”

Chakra 3: Solar Plexus – demon: Satan (H7854, G4567)

·   (this demon is unleashed in the person by “unblocking” or “opening” or “accessing” this solar plexus chakra).

“Located in the navel. Rules over our personal power, will, autonomy and metabolism. This chakra brings energy, efficiency, spontaneity and control”

·  Satan is the prince of hell. Satan’s name appears in 49 Bible verses.

·  2 Corinthians 11:14  “ And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” (not only does he make himself look righteous, as part of the deception, but also he uses light).

Chakra 4: Heart – demon: Lucifer (H1966, heylel, meaning “brightness” “the morning star”)

·  (this demon is unleashed in the person by “unblocking” or “opening” or “accessing” this heart chakra).

“Located at the heart center is the middle chakra in this system of seven. It is associated with love, is the integrator of opposites in the psyche: mind-body, male-female, unity-ego… This chakras is related to the element of air and it allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, centeredness, and a deep sense of peace.”

·   Lucifer was satan’s name before he fell. But now it is an evil name.

·   Isaiah 14:12-15  “How art thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the Mount of the Congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”

Chakra 5: Throat – demon: Lucifuge Roficale

·   (this demon is unleashed in the person by “unblocking” or “opening” or “accessing” this throat chakra).

“Located at the throat, this chakra is related to communication and creativity. With this we experience the world symbolically through vibration such as the vibrations of sound and representing language.”

·  Lucifer was satan’s name before he fell. But now it is an evil name. It is not a demon named in the Bible, but is a derivative of Lucifer.

·  Ephesians 2:2-4 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, Who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith He loved us.”
