Thoughts and Commentary on Today's Reading

From today's reading, I will focus on one of my favorite passages in Lamentations:
Lamentations 3:22-24 "It is of Yahweh's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Yahweh is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him."

One way that Yahweh's compassions are renewed to us every morning is that every morning, when we first awaken, we have been given new baby dendrites. Starting the day with praise for God and worship of Him uses those dendrites to overcome negativity and even a poor chemical imbalance in the brain! Praising God and positively using these new dendrites helps us rewire our brains into positive and healthy minds.

The Bible clearly connects mental health with how we think. Scripture tells us that the thoughts and feelings which come with having a faith-filled relationship with God are key in having a “sound mind.” In fact, mental health is a direct gift from God, in the first place (2 Timothy 1:7).

When we were in Australia, my daughter Katrina gave a talk on having a positive mindset and healthy thinking, in Christ. I share it with you today as an encouragement for each of us to grasp the faithfulness of Yahweh - morning by morning - day-by-day, in a practical sense. May Yahweh bless you as you do this!
