Torah Class: Day 18 - Two Judgment Days - and the Truth About Hell

Basis for our Studies this Year:

The Bible tells us that the “End (of the world) is declared from the “beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that. The original Hebrew word translated as “beginning” in Isaiah 46:10 is תישאר (rê’shı̂yth). This is the root of Bereshith, which is the Hebrew name of the first Book of the Bible, “Genesis”. In other words, prophecies of the End of the World are found in the Book of Genesis.

The Torah is one of the five keys for unlocking End-time Prophecy… Prophecy is unlocked through the Statutes!

The Flood - Shadows of the Final Day of Atonement

The wickedness that is so commonplace in our world today is one of the biggest prophetic signs showing that the end of the world is coming soon. Evil is not allowed to go on unendingly, as Peter explained in 2 Peter 2:4-10:

·       “For if Yahweh did not spare angels when they sinned, but threw them into the lowest hell and imprisoned them in chains of deepest darkness, holding them for Judgment; and if He did not spare the ancient world but protected Noah, a righteous preacher, along with seven others when He brought the Flood on the world of ungodly people... and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and destroyed them by burning them to ashes, making them an example to ungodly people of what is going to happen to them… then Yahweh knows how to rescue godly people from their trials and to hold unrighteous people for punishment on the Day of Judgment, especially those who satisfy their flesh by indulging in its passions and who despise authority...” (2 Peter 2:4-10)

Luke 17:26-30 - "Just as it was in Noah's time, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying, and being given in marriage right up to the day when Noah went into the ark. Then the Flood came and destroyed all of them. So it was in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But on the day when Lot left Sodom, Fire and Sulfur rained down from Heaven and destroyed all of them. The day when the Son of Man is revealed will be like that.”

The days of Noah give us a prophetic lens through which to view the End of the World and a context in which to interpret End-time Bible prophecy.

Judgment Day manifests in two ways: Water and Fire…  Both are global and both involve planetary and off-world events.

·       Nahum 1:5-6 “The mountains quake at Him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at His Presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before His Indignation? And who can abide in the fierceness of His Anger? His Fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by Him.”

·       Nahum 1:9-10What do ye imagine against Yahweh? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.”

·       Revelation 18:8 “Therefore shall her (Babylon’s) plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with Fire: for strong is Yahweh Who judgeth her.”

·       Isaiah 33:14-15 “The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring Fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting Burnings? He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil.”

o   Hebrews 12:28-29 - Yahweh’s Glory is a consuming Fire

o   Exodus 19 – “Our God is a consuming Fire”

What is Hell in the Bible?

·       Literal Hell – the consuming Judgment Fire / Glory of Yahweh, which will burn up wickedness and sin – Malachi 4:1 “the wicked will be ashes under the soles of the feet” of the saved. The Fire doesn’t burn forever, rather its effect is eternal.

·       Figurative Hell – the kingdom of hell…  are those who are marked for eternal death.

Does the Devil control Hell and survive the Fire from Yahweh? No!

Ezekiel 28:12-15 “Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Sovereign GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beautyThou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy Mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.”

·       The King of Tyrus is Satan – the Devil

·       Before he fell, the Devil served Yahweh at His Throne - Pyramid is a word that comes from “fire in the midst” – “the holy Mountain” is the Throne…  which the Bible also says was foursquare and high and lifted up.

·       The King of Tyrus was created “perfect” ---  which means complete and whole-hearted.

·       The King of Tyrus was the first to sin – He is called the father of iniquity.

·       Satan defiled his “temple”, his body “sanctuary” – was to be the dwelling Place of Yah’s Spirit.

·       Trafficking iniquity references causing others to fall into sin.

·       Yahweh will Judge Satan for his wickedness and trafficking by burning him up! He will be brought to ashes – and will never exist anymore.

Matthew 25:41 “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting Fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”

·       Revelation 11:17-18 “Saying, We give thee thanks, O (Yahweh) God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.  And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that Thou shouldest give reward unto Thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear Thy Name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”

In both Noah’s Time (Water Judgment) and at the End (Fire Judgment) there were two sides: the Saved and the Lost. Judgment is for Life or Death.

·       Revelation 20:12-15 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works… This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

·       Malachi 4:3 “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the Day that I shall do this, saith Yahweh of hosts.”

What Day is Judgment Day? Judgment has Two Phases:

·       The Day of Atonement - The Close of Probation - Guilt or Innocence – the division of those that live from those that will die.

o   The Door to Life is shut by Heaven – in the time of Noah, this first phase of Judgment was the Shutting of the Door to the Ark.

o   The Spiritual Door to Life is shut by Heaven – in the End, this first phase of Judgment is the pronouncement: “He that is righteous… He that is holy… He that is unjust… He that is filthy…”

  • Deuteronomy 32:39 “See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no god with Me: I kill (muwth, H4191 “kill, worthy of death, destroy, must needs slay”), and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of My hand.”
    • The Commandment to not kill is about taking human life unjustly.
  • Ezekiel 33:11 “…As I live, saith (Yahweh) GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”
  • Isaiah 28:21 “For (Yahweh) shall rise up as in mount Perazim, He shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do His work, His strange (Judgment of those who commit idolatry) Work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act.”

In the termination of Sin:

·       Yahweh is glorified

·       Yahweh is shone to be loving

·       Yahweh is revealed to be strong

·       Yahweh is the Creator and Restorer of Purity

·       Yahweh will put an End to Satan’s reign of rebellion, sin, suffering, and death

Nahum 1:9-10 - “What do ye imagine against Yahweh? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.”

·       Affliction – “adversity, affliction, tribulation, toil” from the root meaning “adversary”.
