Torah Class: Day 51 - Spiritual Truth in the 3rd Diet: Meat

Basis for our Studies this Year:

The Bible tells us that the “End (of the world) is declared from the “beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that. The original Hebrew word translated as “beginning” in Isaiah 46:10 is תישאר (rê’shı̂yth). This is the root of Bereshith, which is the Hebrew name of the first Book of the Bible, “Genesis”. In other words, prophecies of the End of the World are found in the Book of Genesis.

The Torah is one of the five keys for unlocking End-time Prophecy… Prophecy is unlocked through the Statutes!

The Foods Yahweh has Given Mankind to Eat (in Torah) all Reveal Powerful Spiritual Truths...

The second diet was “the plants of the field” – after the Fall

Genesis 3:18-19

Plants of the Field: Genesis 3:18 explicitly states, "...you will eat the plants of the field".

Labor-Intensive Diet: This is a shift from the fruit of the Garden (Gen 2:16) to a diet gained through toil and farming, as the ground was cursed with thorns and thistles.

Contrasted with Pre-Fall: While the original diet in Genesis 1:29 included fruits and herbs, post-Fall, the sustenance came through painful work.

The Ram –

·       The Ram was caught in the thicket and became the sacrifice in the story of Abraham offering Isaac…  “My son, God will provide Himself a lamb…” (Genesis 22:8).

o  The Ram signifies the Abrahamic Covenant – Genesis 15:9

o   The Ram is a Covenant-confirming offering.

·       The Ram was offered for the consecration of the priests.

o   We are all called to be kings and priests – Revelation 5:10

o   The Ram’s Blood was applied to the priests’ ears, (right) thumbs, and (right) toes (Exodus 29:20)

§  Ear – hearing – obedience to Yahweh’s Voice

§  Hand – action – obedience in “good works”

§  Toe – walk – following the Old Path of Truth

·       The Ram represents Leadership/Kingship

o   A ram in Daniel 8 represents the Medo-Persian Empire

o   The Ram is the leader of the flock (the sheep in the flock are the Body of Christ)

·       Ram vs the Lamb – two aspects of Messiah – the Lamb is the apex

o   Lamb – Messiah’s innocence, purity, HE is the Passover Lamb (Exodus 12)

o   Ram – Messiah’s strength, authority, Covenantal consecration

·  The Ram and the Shofar – the Voice of Covenant and Surrender

o   The shofar is the ram’s horn

§  It was used to announce:

·       Covenant (Sinai – Exodus 19)

·       Kingship

·       Repentance (Yom Teruah)

§  The horn of the ram is curved… signifying us bending our will to Yahweh’s Will.

The Sheep –

·   Sheep are one of the richest Biblical symbols: representing Yahweh’s people (Israel)…  And the characteristics: sheep are dependent upon the Shepherd. They are submitted. They are dumb – they also don’t know what’s best, they need their Shepherd. They symbolize innocence and meekness. They represent belonging to the Covenant.

The Goat –

·   It was a sacrificial animal representing killing off the characteristics of satan in us… and Yahshua having to die for our sin.

·   Goat’s were the sin offering…  They were sacrificed on the Day of Atonement.

·   Both a positive and negative meaning…  sin-bearing sacrifice… rebellion and self-will

·       Baphomet is a symbol of satan--- it’s a goat head

·       G.O.A.T. = Greatest of all Time…  pride?

·       In the End, the sheep and goats will be separated…  Matthew 25:32-33

The Ox/Bull/Cow/Calf –

Oxen symbolize Yahweh

·       The Re’eym is a now-extinct animal, which was a bull-like animal of tremendous strength… it was the size of elephant

o   Numbers 23:22 – Yahweh’s strength is likened to that of a Re’eym – manifested in deliverance of Israel.

o   Numbers 24:8 – Final Judgment of the wicked is meted out by Yahweh like a mighty bull crushing the enemies.

·   The blood of the bullock was put on the four horns of the Altar of Burnt Sacrifice… meaning that the Blood of Messiah – Yahweh manifested in the Flesh – was strong enough to save anyone in all the four compass points.

·       Yahweh’s Strength is manifested in plowing the field

o   The field is the world

o   The work of plowing is “breaking up the fallow ground of the human heart” to receive Heavenly Seed.

o   Matthew 11:29-30  “Take My Yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My Yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

Deer/Hart/Roe/Gazelle –

·       Deer symbolize

o   Beauty and grace

o   Spiritual longing – longing for spiritual things – We are to pant (desire wholeheartedly) after Yahweh as the deer do for water – Psalm 42:1

o   Sensitivity – detecting spirits

o   Quickness and agility – deliverance in dangerous places -

Genesis 3:18-19

Plants of the Field: Genesis 3:18 explicitly states, "...you will eat the plants of the field".

Labor-Intensive Diet: This is a shift from the fruit of the Garden (Gen 2:16) to a diet gained through toil and farming, as the ground was cursed with thorns and thistles.

Contrasted with Pre-Fall: While the original diet in Genesis 1:29 included fruits and herbs, post-Fall, the sustenance came through painful work.

Spiritual Meaning in the Recipe for the Sanctuary Bread

·       We are represented as the dough (1 Corinthians 5:6-8)

o  Leaven is an agent that is powerful (a small amount transforms the dough) – there is sinful leaven “hypocrisy” and “wickedness”. There is also righteous leaven, called the “leaven of the Kingdom”.

·   John 6:51 - Yahshua is the Living Bread from Heaven, which is symbolized by the manna…  Manna like the fruit in the first diet is provided from Heaven.

In the Sanctuary (Wilderness Tabernacle) 12 loaves of the Bread of Presence were placed – which were baked and eaten on the Sabbath.

·   Matthew 12:5 - “Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the Sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?”

Shewbread is His Face shining upon – His Presence in the Bread

·   The shewbread is an acceptable sacrifice “made by fire”, which means it is accepted (because it is eaten, not burned)…  But sheen is the letter of the acceptable Sacrifice, which is both fire and teeth in meaning.

Israel are the loaves of bread – in the Sanctuary – which are the acceptable offering.

·   Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Yahweh, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Godwhich is your reasonable service.”

Ingredients in the Bread of Presence: #1 - 2/10 of an ephah of whole wheat flour (finely sifted)

Meaning in the wheat:

o   Sifting is like beating out chaff, letting the wind blow out that which isn’t good

o   Ten is the yod, which signifies the “Works of Yahweh” and His “Ten Commandments”

o   The wheat is accepted through the “Works of Yahweh” and through obedience to His Torah (Abel’s obedient offering was accepted, while Cain’s “I’ll-worship-You-as-I-please-offering” was not accepted).

o   In the parable of the wheat and tares we see two kinds of people, two sides: wheat (saved) and tares (lost)… every person is on one side or the other…  These sides are emblemized in the two Trees from Eden.

o   Wheat is connected, in Hebrew, with the Tree of Life. It also represents the Word of Yahweh…  At Creation, Yah spoke the world into existence…  The basic units of speech are the proto-Canaanite letters – There are 22 letters…  The Hebrew word for wheat has the numeric value of 22 (חטה = 22)… This spiritually indicates that all Truth in the letters is present in wheat.

§  So, in Hebrew thought, these twenty-two letters (and meanings) are the building blocks of reality – like the periodic table of spiritual elements…

§  Notably also, because wheat is a symbol of eternal life, carrying within the word the secret of Creation by the Word (value of 22), Hebrew connects wheat with the Tree of Life from the Garden of Eden

§  Conversely, tares are associated with the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

o   12 is the number of the Kingdom of Yahweh – 12 loaves for 12 tribes…  12 star families conveying the Plan of Redemption (in symbolic representation of the tribes – Genesis 49)…  There are 12 loaves of wheat bread – representing the people who are partakers of Life (through Salvation, they have access to the Tree of Life).

·  Meaning in the measurement of the wheat: 2/10 of an ephah

o   2 = bet = House of Yahweh / Temple / Sheepfold / the number of Yahshua, Who was the Living Temple… The bread by having the 2 (out of 10 parts) is Israel…

o   10 = yod Works of Yahweh, His Law (10 Commandments)…

o   The proportions of the wheat – which indicates the Saved – underscore the meaning and identity of who is Saved, in other words, they identify Israel, as follows:

§  2 – Israel are those who are part of the Body (Temple) of Christ – He is their Messiah

§  10 – Israel are those who do the works of Yahweh – obedience to keep the Commandments

§  Revelation 12:17  “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the Commandments of God, and have the testimony of Yahshua Christ (they have the testimony that Yahshua IS Messiah).”

§  Revelation 14:12  “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Yahshua.”

Ingredients in the Bread of Presence: #2 – salt – Leviticus 2:13

·   Matthew 5:13  “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

o   Yahweh’s people (Israel, represented in the wheat bread) are called “the salt of the earth”.

o   Salt is preservative – meat that cured with salt does not spoil.

o   Yahweh’s people are to a holy influence, signified by the salt. And when the salt is present, there is hope for those who are steeped in wickedness and deception to be brought to righteousness –

§  This is demonstrated in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah

§  If 10 righteous had been in those wicked cities, that would been enough salt to save the cities – literally – preservative

§  Salt represents the godly witness and influence of the righteous life…  The influence is represented in the “taste” called the “savor”…  “Taste and see that Yahweh is good…”

Ingredients in the Bread of Presence: #3 – 1/3 of an hin of olive oil – Numbers 15:6

·       Numbers 15:6  “Or for a ram, thou shalt prepare for a meat offering two tenth deals of flour mingled with the third part of an hin of oil.”

·       Olive oil represents the quiet and transforming Presence of the Spirit…  Israel is likened to an olive tree.

·       Israel are those who are indwelt by the Spirit of Yahweh.

1/3 meaning…

·       One - is the Aleph – a – this letter represents the Father. Revelation tells us that we will be sealed in the Father’s Name. Those who are sealed are under the Dominion of Yahweh – Aleph is the Power / Dominion of the Heavenly Father.

o   We are all called to be “kings and priests” under Yahweh…  Kings (under Him) take back the dominion – “Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done…”

·       Three – is the Gimel - G – Gimel signifies the Elijah Message (preparing the Way of Messiah), its also the number of Covenant (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob)… Israel are partakers of the Covenant with Abraham.

Ingredients in the Bread of Presence: #4 – Water, sufficient to moisten the dough and knead it.

·       Water is another representation of the Spirit of Yahweh, manifested in His Word of Truth…

o   Ephesians 5:26-27 “That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

o   Those who are baptized and have put on Christ (the Word) – are Abraham’s Seed – Baptized is born of water.

The third diet was “clean meats” – after the Flood

Genesis 9:3-4 – “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.”

  • Leviticus 11 – definition of “clean meats”
  • Deuteronomy 14 – definition of “clean meats”
  • We may not eat the blood…
    • Every Statute on a topic helps you understand details…  the Passover Lamb…
      • The Passover Lamb is slaughtered by slitting the throat of animal and the blood is drained…
      • After this is done, is there still some blood in the meat? Yes!
      • The Passover Lamb, which is properly bled, but still contains some blood, is then roasted whole…
      • There is some blood in the animal after proper slaughtering, and being roasted whole.
      • This detailed example helps us understand what it means to not eat the blood ---
        • The animal is to be slaughtered in a way that drains the blood.
        • There will still be some blood in the meat – and eating it does not break Torah.
