Torah Class: Day 76 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #5: Elim

Basis for our Studies:

The Bible tells us that the “End (of the world) is declared from the “beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that. The original Hebrew word translated as “beginning” in Isaiah 46:10 is תישאר (rê’shı̂yth). This is the root of Bereshith, which is the Hebrew name of the first Book of the Bible, “Genesis”. In other words, prophecies of the End of the World are found in the Book of Genesis.

The Torah is one of the five keys for unlocking End-time Prophecy… Prophecy is unlocked through the Statutes!

The Lessons and Tests of Israel in the Wilderness are Prophetic - for the Last Days

1 Corinthians 10:1-6 – The experiences, lessons and tests of Israel in the Wilderness are “examples” for us.

1 Corinthians 10:11 - “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”

What is being worked on in each Test/Lesson is ONE THING: Shema – Love Yahweh with all your heart, soul and might

·       Deuteronomy 6:4-9  “Hear (shema: to hear intelligently, to pay attention, obey, be a witness and proclaim / live it for others to see), O Israel (those that bear the 42 letter Name): Yahweh our God is one (primary, solely God, supreme, first) Yahweh: And thou shalt love Yahweh thy God with all thine heart (emotions, innermost being), and with all thy soul (breath, will – choices), and with all thy might (strength). And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house (that’s our down-time of resting, at the end of day), and when thou walkest by the way (in the commute, travel time), and when thou liest down (when you first lay down and before you fall asleep at night), and when thou risest up (when you first wake up in the morning). And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #5: Elim (means "ram, strong, stag, Terebinths, trees, strength, God's strong angels") - Numbers 33:9-10

·       Elim is the place of strengthening after the trial of Marah…  It was the fifth camp, five is the number (in Hebrew) of Spirit of Yahweh bringing a window of insight”.

·       Elim was the place of 12 springs of water and 70 palm trees.

·       Elim was the place of “rest for the soul”.

o   Exodus 15:27

§  “wells” in this verse is translated from the Hebrew word “ayin” which is also the name of the 16th letter of the alephbet… [ Ayin is the number 70 in Hebrew…  Ayin is translated “eye” or “sight”.

§  At Elim (an oasis) “eye” and “sight” are centered on “water”.

·       Elim contains a message hidden in the number 70…  70 palms…  “ayin” (wells) is 70…  So the 70 is shared twice (two witnesses)…

o   Proverbs 20:12 – Sight and hearing are gifts from Yahweh.

o   1 Kings 11:6 – Solomon did evil in the sight of Yahweh (sight is connected with Judgment); Zechariah 4:10 (Yahweh’s Vision for Judgment is “sevened” (complete, perfect, entire).

o   Psalm 18:27 – gives a proud/rebellious kind of “seeing” that is really blindness – and is ultimately destroyed.

o   Jeremiah 5:21 – a lack of spiritual understanding and discernment is blindness (spiritually)

o   Ephesians 1:18-19 – “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.”

When we see with the eyes of Faith, we recognize that Yahweh is my reality, not my circumstances! You have not heard the end of the matter (which is your REAL reality) until Yahweh Speaks.

·       Psalm 1:1-3 – We are blessed when we delight in the Law of Yahweh and meditate upon it day and night…  Then we are like a tree by the water…  we flourish in the desert. Meditation upon Yahweh’s Law is what builds faith.

o   Psalm 92:12-13 – the Righteous flourish, not because of their circumstances (the desert, the desolate place where no water is… yet Yahweh provides water even in such a place as that) but because they have roots that tap the Water.

·       There were 70 in the House of Israel which went into Egypt (prior to the enslavement, in the time of Joseph) – Exodus 1:5

The 70 comprised the 12 (tribes)…  at Israel’s inception. Those who, like Jacob, prevail with Yahweh, go Home.

Torah Class: Day 75 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #4: Marah

Basis for our Studies:

The Bible tells us that the “End (of the world) is declared from the “beginning” (Isaiah 46:10). Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that.

Campsite #4: Marah ("bitterness", "t0 be rebellious", "to quarrel, "to be in defiance") - Numbers 33:8

At Marah, Israel had been three days without a water source…  Now they were thirsty and the water at Marah turns out to be big disappointment. The water is “bitter”. Israel responds to the bitter water with bitterness against “Moses”, but that’s really against Yahweh. They are suffering and uncomfortable…  But they aren’t handling it with Grace.

Instead of getting upset, complaining and becoming bitter against Yahweh when suffering comes upon us, we need to understand that suffering is part of the Journey! Suffering is something that Yahweh uses to get Egypt out of us.

·   2 Corinthians 1:5-7 – “For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our Consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your Consolation and Salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your Consolation and Salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the Consolation.”

·   1 Peter 4:12-16 – “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings: that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy...But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

·       Hebrews 12:1-5 – chastening is part of sonship in Yahweh

·       Malachi 3:2-3 –

·   Deuteronomy 8:2 – “And thou shalt remember all the way which Yahweh thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep His Commandments, or no.”

Moses is shown a tree branch to put in the water at Marah that turns the bitter water to sweet and potable…

In the context of this story, Yahweh chooses to reveal Himself to Israel as the Healer: Exodus 15:25-26

The BRANCH is Messiah (there are five BRANCH prophecies)…  These prophesies define Messiah. Israel can only be healed of their bitter rebellion through the BRANCH.

Water represents spirit…  So, Living Water represents the Holy Spirit…  but poisonous water or noxious water is of the enemy. Spirits of darkness produce the fruit of rebellion and complaint…

Ephesians 4:31 – “Let all bitterness, and wrath… be put away from you…”

Hebrews 12:15 – “Looking diligently lest… any root of bitterness spring up.”

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #3: Pi Hahiroth ("mouth", "kindled wrath", "to subside, to be calm, to be quiet in the face of wrath")

·      ·      Pi Hahiroth is about that moment when you really are between a rock and a hard place… But the Truth is that GOD is your REALITY, NOT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES!

·   Exodus 14:2-3 “Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.”

Migdol is “tower”, which is what Scripture tells us that Yahweh is to His people

·   Proverbs 18:10 “The Name of Yahweh is a strong tower. The righteous runneth into it and is safe.”

·   1 Corinthians 10:13 – “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

·   Psalm 61:1-3 – “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.”

At Pi Hahiroth, they are also in the shadow of Baalzephon (Numbers 33:7), meaning “lord of the north”, which is a suggestion of the title for the Beast (King of the North)… And Israel comes unto Migdol, through the baptism of the Sea (1Co_10:2  And (they) were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.”), thereby claiming the Strong Tower of Yahweh’s Deliverance from Baalzephon. Baptism is the beginning of the way Yahweh has provided for us to be delivered from the Beast…

On the other shore, having passed through the baptism of the Red Sea (900 foot tall water… 10 mile stretch… the Egyptians tried to follow them and were drowned)

Miriam led Israel in singing the Song of Moses (the Song of the Moses and the Lamb is sung by the 144,000 at the End, which clearly means we all experience this Sea) – Exodus 15:20-21

Exodus 15:2 - "Yahweh is my strength and song, and He has become my Salvation (H3444 Yahshua)."

Exodus 15:11 - "Who is like unto thee, O Yahweh, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?"

Exodus 15:18 - "Yahweh shall reign for ever and ever."

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #2: Etham ("contemplation", "from them", "plowshares")

·      ·       Israel is coming out of Rameses, in Egypt…

·   Yahshua said the “Seed of Abraham” do the “works of Abraham”…  Abraham’s works involved leaving the idolatrous, dark realm behind and choosing Yahweh

§  Hebrews 11:8-10 – right here we see that the Land Abraham sought wasn’t of earth…  He’s seeking the City that Yahweh Built.

·   We are to be separated out from the darkness of the world

§  2 Corinthians 6:17 – Israel is called out “from among them”, which is one of the meanings of Etham… (Revelation 18:4)

§  Jeremiah 51:6

§  Zechariah 2:6-7

·   The Way of Life is not too high of a Calling. It’s the Way of Love…  When we love someone we are dedicated to that love, that relationship, that person – to the exclusion of others…  Similarly, with Yahweh, we are Called to be dedicated to Shema Him, to be dedicated to our Relationship with Him, to serve and worship Him exclusively as God.

·   Deuteronomy 5:29 – Yahweh seeks those who will have a heart for Him.

·   No one can be drug (kicking and screaming) out of darkness…  In the end, we choose…  Like Lot’s wife…  Etham is about making that choice.

·   Etham is a call to wholeness – which is the meaning of having a “perfect heart”…  A perfect heart isn’t one that doesn’t need a Saviour… It’s someone who is whole-hearted in their choice for Yahweh.

Contemplation (one of the meanings of the Hebrew word “Etham”) refers to “counting the cost”…  We don’t choose Salvation/Yahshua because this is the easy path, a “prosperity gospel”. Scripture speaks of “counting the cost” before buying a property…  We must count the cost when choosing Yahweh.

Etham also means “wholeness”, which is the meaning of “perfect”, as in having a “perfect heart”. A perfect heart is one that is completely given to Yahweh. There’s no double-mindedness…  no one eye on the world and another eye on Heaven…  trying keep hold of both kingdoms…

·   Philippians 3:13-14 – “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind (Egypt, of our old ways and sins and lusts and love of the world) and reaching forth unto those things which are before (the Kingdom of Heaven), I press toward the mark (the Seal of Yahweh) for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Yahshua.”

Etham also means plowshares, as in exchanging them for swords, as said in Isaiah 2:4… Plowshares is “ayth”…

Isaiah 2:4  “And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

·   Joel 3:10 – Let the Gentiles beat their plowshares into swords

·   Micah 4:3

The point is not to literally lay down the sword – it’s a mental and spiritual shift…  It’s learning or agreeing or understanding that Yahweh is the Defender, the Protector…  So the mental sword is laid down, because even when the literal sword is being used by Yahweh’s people, they are to know that it is useless unless He is their Defense.

At Etham, Yahweh manifests to them as the Pillar of Cloud by Day, and the Pillar of Fire by Night. Etham is the Place where we see Yahweh and we choose Him and we go all in with Him.

Torah Class: Day 72 - Lessons in the Exodus - Camp #2: Etham

Basis for our Studies:

Certainly, this means that the early Biblical record of human history bears End-time prophetic significance. But, it’s actually even more specific than that.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (we are sealed in the forehead and hand… the Shema is the Sealing). And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Campsite #1: Succoth (Temporary Shelter)

·       Israel is coming out of Rameses, in Egypt…  Rameses means “born of Ra (the sun god)” or “son of Ra”…  Yahweh’s people are called out of Babylon (Babylon and Egypt are both the places of sun-worship in Bible Prophecy)… Like Revelation which calls us out of Babylon, we must come of Egypt – the place of false worship, idolatry, and sun-centeredness…

o   Revelation 18:4  “And I heard another voice from Heaven, saying, Come out of her (Babylon, aka Egypt), My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.“

·       Israel is counted as Yahweh’s Firstborn – Exodus 4:22… Moses was instructed to tell Pharaoh, at the outset, that Israel was Yahweh’s Firstborn (with the birthright, with the blessing, with the leadership/responsibility of the House… and the Covenant of Abraham) and failure to release Israel would result in Egypt’s firstborn being slain.

o   Every saved believer is counted as “Heirs according the Promise (Firstborn)”

§  Galatians 3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Yahshua. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

·       Notice also that Yahweh’s people are not called “Jacobites”! They are called “Israelites”, which clearly indicates that the meaning of Israel applies to us all…  Israel means “as a prince he has prevailed with Yahweh”… Israel (as a people) are defined by Jacob wrestling that night…  Seeking of Yahweh, His blessing so wholeheartedly that Jacob would be willing to die rather than to not receive it.

You’ve come out of Egypt…  BUT ARE YOU ISRAEL?

·       We need to want HIM more than air! – We are to be those who prevail with Yahweh.

We need to be fully covered under the Blood

·    Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish, Luke 13:3.

·    He that believeth not is condemned already, John 3:18.

·   He that believeth not shall be damned, Mark 16:16.

·   That they all may be damned who believe not. 2 Thessalonians 2:12.

At Succoth, the lesson is to Fear Yahweh and to come under the Blood of the Passover Lamb…  In the same way that the blood on the doorpost symbolized Divine Protection amidst Judgment, so also the Sukkah, represents the overshadowing Wings of Protection from Yahweh.

· “The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do His Commandments: His praise endureth for ever.” Psalm 111:10

o   Fear is demonstrated in reverence…  awe… worship…

o Consider the literal meaning of the word Sukkah," says the Sfas Emes. "While it is customarily translated as 'hut,' it may also be related to the word 'Socheh' -- to gaze ahead (i.e. to peer into the future). The Sukkah calls upon its occupants to shed their physical limitations, look beyond…  This is to see that the journey is about the Ultimate Promised Land.

·  Succoth was the site of a major Egyptian military base…  And the people here are passing right under the noses of this base… They’re being told to trust in Yahweh.

Exodus 12:17; 42 - “And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this self same day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance forever. . . 42It is a night to be much observed unto the Lord for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the Lord to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.”

·   Israel is not delivered via the “safe route”…  We are to trust in Yahweh, more than what our senses tell us…  His direction is always right.

·  At Succoth the firstborn of Israel were dedicated – this is the establishment of the original priesthood.

·  Exodus 13:2 – This dedication takes place at Succoth – in the order of the Melchizedek priesthood (priests and kings)… Revelation 5:10

·  The 7-Fold Promise of Succoth (why the camp is named for the Sukkot- meaning under His Pavilion, in His House, under His Protection) - Exodus 6:6-8

  • I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, Exodus 6:8a
  • I will deliver you from their bondage, Exodus 6:6b
  • I will redeem you with an outstretched Arm and great Judgments, Exodus 6:6c
  • I will take you for My people, Exodus 6:7a
  • I will be your God, Exodus 6:7b
  • I will bring you to the Land, Exodus 6:8a
  • I will give the Land to you for a possession, Exodus 6:8

Campsite #2: Etham ("contemplation", "from them", "plowshares") - Numbers 33:6

Israel is coming out of Rameses, in Egypt…
